After a lengthy career in the corporate world, Carmel commenced study with the Gaiety School of Acting in 2003.  Following this, Carmel ran drama and singing workshops for many years, both in schools as well as privately. Limelight Theatrics was officially set up in 2009, offering classes in speech & drama, musical theatre and communications. Carmel has a BA in Business and a professional certification in Human Resources Management. She holds a Licentiate from the Irish Board of Speech & Drama, which she obtained in 2012. The Irish Board of Speech and Drama also appointed Carmel as an Examiner in 2020. Carmel has also achieved several national awards for acting in drama and musical theatre. Carmel is a Certified Vocal Instructor with the Institute for Vocal Advancement (IVA).  Carmel is also a Professional Singer.
